Performance shop Headers and mufflers are your muscle car sound effects. Might cost more than the used motor though.
Try auto salvage in your area. These cars crashed or rolled or got T-boned...in the side. That does not affect the engine which would still most likely be a "runner". That is where I would start. Or check the classifieds for autos for sale or auto parts and see if you can score a deal there. The price can vary from people that are greedy, and people that just don't know what it is worth. You got to do the mechanicKing.
I wouldn't pay $800 for an 82 Camaro even if it had an engine that ran.
Chevrolet 305 or 350 V8 engine, used, could be from hundreds of $ to thousands of $. Maybe at an auto salvage yard, or classifieds. This is one of the most common engines.
Chevrolet will sell you a brand new crate 350 for $2,650 with a warranty clear up to a crate 427 aluminum small block for $13,480. small block with a warranty.
You can buy a crate motor, with a warranty for a couple of thousand, then, of course, there's installation.
stay well away from this piece of junk it will be a money pit, he should pay you to take it a way and that would cost $200
About $4000.00 should get you rolling after the purchase of the car.

This guy I know is selling his 82 Camaro for only $800 but is missing an engine. It also has a crap paint job but I know somebody who can plastic dip for $350.
I also don't know too much about cars and stuff but I DO know that I don't want to much of a quiet engine in it. How much would it be?
