I need to change all 4 tyres on my car i have seen some cheap 215.45.17 will they fit on my car when mine are a 215.50.17 thank you

Perhaps, but only if the 215/45-17 sized tires have the same, or greater, load index and speed rating of the original equipment tires.

Hi if you look you will see us old guys will say this is not acceptable for a good reason the low profile tyres are more likely to cause an accident so when this car next goes for it's MOT since january the law has changed it needs the original tyres and wheels putting back on this car. due too many accidents as the steering geometery has been upset sing low profiles,

Yes for sure. Your car will be a little bit lower than before, Don't worry about speedometer.

No, this is not an acceptable swap. You should never go over 3% difference than the OEM tire size. Going to the 215/45-17 is a 3.32% difference. Your speedometer will read 62.07 at a true 60 mph. Handling, breaking, and fuel mileage will suffer. Your engine will be turning more RPMs with these tires. You can go to a 235/45-17 which is an acceptable swap at only 0.54% difference and you will see almost no difference in handling, braking, and fuel mileage. Your speedometer will only be off 0.34 mph too slow.

go to 225/45/17

Yes. Your speedo won't be accurate, and your ride will be a bit stiffer.
